As The Lampholder Newsletter has been reporting in past editions, the alignment of planets is not a very rare occurrence, but when it is combined with all of the other heavenly displays simultaneously occurring at the end/beginning of a Century, and near the end of the Church Age, then it does present an interesting phenomenon.

It was the week of December 1, 1997, when a rare conjunction of Pluto, Mercury, Mars, Venus, Neptune, Uranus, Jupiter, Saturn, and a distinctive, crescent Moon, formed a planetary "string of pearls" in a line spiraling upward from the horizon. The last similar heavy conjunction called the "grand cross" occurred in February of 1962, and prior to this, one occurred in 1910 which included seven major planets. Then there was the conjunction in August of 1999, that included nine planets, several asteroids, and a solar eclipse. The "grand square" was in the constellations of Taurus, Leo, Scorpius, and Aquarius forming the shape of a "cross," similar to the representation of the "four beasts" of Revelation.

Then on May 5, 2000, another planetary conjunction, in the constellation of Taurus, similarly mimicked the one in 1997; but not all of the planets were visible from the Earth because the planetary grouping occurred on the opposite side of the Sun as seen from Earth. The May 3-5, 2000, planetary conjunction ended the 20th Century (May 5, 2000 Planetary Alignment) . A similar type of planetary pattern will not occur for another 600+ years. This planetary alignment displayed a symbolic pattern of "the Golden Candlestick" or "Menorah" found in the Holy Place of the Wilderness Tabernacle (Ex. 25:31-40).

Josephus writes of this comparison between the stars and the lamp stand in "Antiquities:" "...for if any one do without prejudice, and with judgment, look upon these things, he will find that they were every one made in way of imitation and representation of the universe...and as to the seven lamps upon the candlesticks, they referred to the course of the planets, of which that is the number...."

The End of the Church Age

Interestingly, every time the Earth witnesses a great eclipse, comet, or planetary grouping various theorists emerge with crude warnings of great catastrophes and disasters. Some of the warnings have been very strange, bordering on the line of ridiculous, and others end up as a prophetic marker in time.

To the world these planetary configurations mean nothing of special significance, but throughout the Holy Scriptures, the heavens have been used as a prophetic calendar/clock that reveals key time-periods in history. Each of these time-periods will eventually lead up to the end of the Church Age.

Many prophetic markers possess an eerie quality of truth that lends some credibility to omens and legends; but one of the greatest events comes to us by way of Biblical history. For instance, the great conjunction of planets occurring in B.C.E. 7, around the time of

Yeshua, the Messiah, Jesus Christ's birth. --This conjunction aligns with the beginning and ending of the Church Age anywhere from B.C.E. 7 to A.D. 2007-2014 (approx).

A Prophecy for the Season

The ancient Rabbins gave the Hebrew root for the constellation of Sagittarius as "Heth" (or "Cheth") and means "Terrorem"

or "Terror." A later Hebrew noun for the constellation Sagittarius interpreted "Cheth" as "a living animal (beast)" (see Genesis1:30.)

Solar activity remains very high and shows no signs of abating. Sunspot 798/808 has unleashed seven X-class solar flares since Sept. 7th. Forecasters say there's a 75%

chance of more X-flares during the next 24 hours, possibly causing radio blackouts and radiation storms. Coronal mass ejections hurled into space by these explosions could hit Earth's magnetic field in the days ahead. Sky watchers, particularly in northern places like Canada and Alaska, should remain alert for auroras. The best time to look is local midnight.
The sun's 27-day rotation is slowly turning sunspot 798 to face Earth. Explosions in the coming week will be increasingly Earth-directed, raising the possibility of geomagnetic storms and auroras over the continental United States, Europe and Australia.

northern-tier US states should be alert for auroras. EARLY LEONIDS? The ual Leonid meteor shower normally peaks around the 19th of November. This year, however, there might be an extra, early peak on Nov. 8th when Earth passes close to a 1000-year-old stream of dust from Comet Tempel-Tuttle. The precise location of this old stream is uncertain...Big sunspot 696 unleashed an X-class solar flare on Sunday, Nov. 7th, and probably hurled another coronal mass ejection (CME) toward Earth. SUNSPOT WATCH: If you learned how to safely look at the Sun last week to view the transit of Venus, look again. Two big sunspot groups, each larger than Venus, have just emerged over the Sun's eastern limb. This could signal a period of increased solar activity in the days ahead.

It has been 122 years since Venus was seen crossing the face of the Sun. On June 8, 2004, a much anticipated event will occur; and one that has been seen only a handful of times in the last 400 years. On June 8, Venus will pass directly between the Sun and Earth. The event is known as the "transit of Venus." and will not be similarly repeated for another 8 years (around 2012 - interestingly around the end-date of the Mayan calendar), and again for over 100 years (in 2117). Europe, the Middle East and much of Asia and Africa will be the prime viewing areas. States that will miss the transit include Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Montana,

Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

The best viewing (and safest) is through a filtered telescope. At first Venus will appear (to the left) as a small, black spot slowly creeping across the face of the Sun until it darkens before becoming invisible (to the right). The entire event will take approximately five or six hours.
